Royal Samui Golf & Country Club is a unique 9-hole golf course built on the side of one of Koh Samui’s highest mountains. Opened in 2006, the course was conceived by a small group of golf enthusiasts, with the aim of expanding it to an 18-hole golf course over time. The course is defined by its remarkable elevation changes which can present a challenge as far as club selection is concerned. Mountain grass was used to build the tees, fairways and rough, providing high resistance to drought and heavy rains. Overall, this is a challenging course - if you manage to play to your handicap you will have had a good day! Make sure you steal some time to admire the panoramic views of neighbouring holes as you go around the course. For anybody looking to play 18-holes, why not try to better your first score by playing the 9-holes twice? Golf carts can be rented but caddies are not available. During the rainy season, call in advance to check the condition of the course, as well as the road leading to the course. Access is strictly by 4-wheel drive at this time of the year.
