Situated in one of Thailand’s most attractive and coolest areas, Wiang Chai Hills Waterford Valley Golf Course is just a 40-minute drive from the city of Chiang Rai. Designed in 1994 by Rather International, the course is perched upon a relatively flat plateau, surrounded by lush valleys and picturesque mountains. It is undoubtedly one of the most scenic courses in Thailand.

Waterford Valley is a good, though at times hilly course. Three holes on each side have severe elevation changes, making correct club selection critical. The flatter holes are relatively straightforward, with wide fairways. 

The outdoor clubhouse offers thirsty golfers scenic views of the surrounding countryside and suburbs of Chiang Rai. The menu is basic Thai food with a few spicy northern speciality dishes included. 

There is also an onsite 20 room golf lodge, popular with local Thais and groups of visiting Asian golfers. Most international visitors choose to overnight in better hotels in Chiang Rai city centre.
